After 40 years as a stylist, educator, salon owner, and CEO of The Salon Professional Academy Hot Springs, I’ve witnessed countless beauty challenges. One of the most common frustrations that clients share is this: “Why doesn’t my hair look the same after I leave the salon?”
In today’s fast-paced world, many people rush through their morning routine, especially when it comes to drying their hair. But here’s the truth: if your hair isn’t at least 90% dry, your style simply won’t hold. That flawless salon look? It starts to fade the moment you walk out the door.
Here’s a tried-and-true method I recommend to all my clients:

Dry your hair until you think it’s completely dry.

Pause, get dressed, apply your makeup, and give yourself a few minutes.

Then dry your hair again, for just as long as before.

Style it.
This simple adjustment can dramatically increase how long your style lasts. You’ll be amazed by the difference it makes; your hair will maintain that freshly styled look all day long.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to share tips like these, refined through years of experience and a deep passion for the beauty industry.
Cosmetology has been more than just a skill set; it’s been a journey of self-discovery, creativity, and connection. From mastering techniques to building confidence in others, every lesson has shaped who I am today. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m even more excited for what’s ahead.
